Chasing the word of the Lord for 2021

Dear Partners,

“Happy New Year,” Welcome to the year 2021. I pray that everyone had a great Christmas. I know holidays can bring out the good, bad, and the ugly. But, I pray that if need be, the fruit of the Spirit prevails thru you. As always, my Christmas break is filled with personal time as well as getting ready for the new year. Most of the time, how I believe a year will turn out, doesn't always go the way I might chart it out. But, it is always a season that requires me to continue to trust the Lord. The Hebrew numbers for 2021 mean, “To hear the voice of God.” I think that we can be certain about the outcome of this year. I believe that the Lord would have all of us, dialed into knowing His voice. The word that the Lord has given me this year is, Launch. I am believing that my ministry, my marriage, and our prayer community will launch in fresh ways as I hear the Lord. I think also that there will be a lot of strange voices of confusion out there this year, because of what the Lord wants to accomplish. Stay with the voices in your life that have been consistent. Voices that have proven themselves to be faithful and true in your life. Here is a simple exercise that will help. If you were in a room of ten people that you know well. And you had everyone close their eyes. And you said, I’m going to tap someone on the shoulder, like maybe their Pastor, and when I do, I want that person to shout hallelujah. Everyone in that room would know that that voice was their Pastor. Why, because their Pastor’s voice is familiar. They know the voice of their shepherd, the voice of a stranger, they will not follow or trust. The voice of their shepherd is an identifying voice. Knowing God’s voice is just this simple, the more you're around it, the more identifying it is in our lives. You can develop your spirit man to hear the Lord in all kinds of ways. Through a song, or in a book, or by a poem and by someone else’s revelation in a sermon. The gospel is not about personalities or popularities, or even programs, it’s about the truth. When these things are not founded in the truth, they are not the voice of the Lord. I heard a minister say to a person that always said, “the Lord said.” God doesn’t speak to me as much as He speaks to you, but He doesn't lie to me as much as He lies to you. I thought that was profound. Distortion doesn't always come from the demonic, it can come from the church. How important is hearing God’s voice and knowing His word? The Prophet Jeremiah said; “Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will You surely be to me like an unreliable stream, as waters that fail.” When we do not want to respond to the truth, pain is perpetual, wounds are never healed and the water of God’s Spirit seems to fail. We know God can not lie, His ways never fail us, we should be grateful for opportunities to respond to the truth. When people do not want to be around the truth, they will entertain a familiar spirit. A familiar spirit will have great stage presence but will lack any real authority. Not one church or denomination possesses all truth. We must be open to the Apostle and the Prophet going forward. These voices should never be a strange voice in our lives. There must be a willingness to receive, believe, and apply what makes us complete. I will start next month with five points that will help all of us to begin to or sharpen the voice of the Lord in our walk with Him.
