Chasing the Word of the Lord for 2021 (April Newsletter)

Dear Partners, as I have traveled this year, I am seeing an assignment from the enemy like no other. There is a cloud of discouragement over the body of Christ to produce a wrong course of action. The Lord told me during the beginning of the quarantine that there would come people that would define themselves, one, a people that would go back to the familiar and the known, and the other, a people that would press ahead to a day waiting on them. Going backwards is never a good direction to head in. Discouragement tries to set in when things don’t turn out the way we are believing for them to, or the way we personally want them to. When things don’t go the way we think they should go, as believers, we must always know that there is a bigger plan. When discouragement shows up, we should immediately interrogate the devil. We should demand from that demonic presence, “Who sent you and why.” The cross has judged everything that will try and afflict us. The quickest way to see deliverance to any affliction is to stay in cadence with the Lord. When things are right between God and man, there is a holy rhythm to life. We have access to pray until our soul has come under the influence of the Lord. The more intimate we are with the Lord, the more discerning we become to the atmosphere around us. Bitter is what the opposition wants us to become. Bitterness is invisible at first, then it can grow slowly or very quickly. Bitterness simply defined is, when we feel we didn’t get what we thought we should get to be the person we dream of becoming. Bitterness is a fruit of unforgiveness, and it doesn't take long before it springs up and causes trouble. There are two types of discouragement, natural and spiritual. Natural discouragement is when we begin to realize that we are card-carrying members of the human race. We are not immune from the crisis of this life. In Neh. 4:7-10, the walls of Jerusalem were being rebuilt and the gaps were being filled in. But there were people who weren’t happy about this. Our tires wear out like everyone else. When the stress and pressures of life come calling, we can get discouraged. Then there is spiritual discouragement, this is when everything is going right, and all of a sudden we begin to feel discouraged. What has happened, the devil is seeing whether or not he can get something to stick to us. There can come discouragement in victories, 1 Kings 19:4-5,  and discouragement in disasters, 1 Samuel 30:5-8. Both of these forms of discouragement bring with it, disillusionment. A disillusioned boxer might hit the referee. A disillusioned soldier might engage in friendly fire. Let me share seven fruits of disillusionment. 1. It will try and get us to avoid God. 2. You won’t want to move forward. 3. We won’t want to trust the Lord. 4. It breeds worry, frustration, and hopelessness. 5. It will try and enslave you and keep you from God’s word. 6. It’s contagious. 7. It leads to fear. But, taking all things to the Lord restores all hope. Jn. 16:33, returning to the Lord’s influence gets us away from the problem. In this pursuit, we return all control back to the Lord. We begin to pray with a vision for our lives again. When we are born again, we have been given the mind of Christ. Therefore our thoughts can be His thoughts and our ways can be His ways. I think it will always be a daily choice, but a possible way of living. With this in mind, we don’t have to have another discouraging day in our life. The devil hates our destiny and the purpose for our life.
